Our troop is formed from 6 different sections, all catering for male & female.
BEAVERS
6 - 8 year olds, they form the kindergarden of the troop. They take part in many fun activities specially tailored to their age group. Beavers do not take part on overnight activities at this stage.
CUBS
8 - 10 1/2 year olds. These kids do more advanced activities than the beavers. They hike, camp and enter regional competitions.
SCOUTS
10 1/2 - 16 year olds, they are the back bone of any scout troop, especially in the 13th! This section is often the most visible as they maintain a high profile hiking, camping, learning how to deal with and handle almost any situation such as emergencies, rescue, etc. Their rough and their tough and their isn't much they can't do.
VENTURERS
16 - 19 year olds. You thought the scouts were tough, these guys take things to the extreme. They have more of a say in what activities they do but also take on much more of the responsibilty. They are a vital resource for the leaders to help train the other sections. Most of them have been through the system, so theirs is a wealth of knowledge that can be harnessed.
LEADERS
18+ No scout troop can survive without its leaders, and we in the 13th have some of the best scout leaders in the country, if not the world! All work under the U/L, Unit Leader Steve "Chief" Martin, who has spent a lifetime in scouting developing many troops and sections and guiding the rest of us. This is also the section in most need of recruits! Screening and training is provided, so if you are free Saturday mornings, and want to get out their and get active, go to the Contact Page to find out who to talk to!
PARENTS COMMITTEES
We are lucky to have 3 functioning committees in the Troop that focus all the parents that give us a dig out from time to time in three distinct ways. They are:
Finance Committee - to raise funds
Transport Committee - to get us where we need to go, our very own logistics corps!
Social Committee - to organise events and special occasions
